The Society of Internationally Educated Nurses in North America (SIENNA) successfully held its first board meeting of the 2025–2027 term, with 100% attendance from the Board of Directors and the Board of Advisors. The energy in the meeting was palpable, as every leader expressed enthusiasm and commitment to volunteer their time and skills for the advancement of SIENNA.
Focus on Growth
As a young and emerging organization, SIENNA recognizes the importance of strengthening its foundation. The board committed to driving growth in membership and engagement, ensuring that internationally educated nurses (IENs) find a strong, supportive community in North America.
Policy and Advocacy
The board reaffirmed its commitment to expanding policy and advocacy efforts. By engaging with policymakers, stakeholders, and nursing leaders, SIENNA aims to bring the voices of IENs into broader healthcare conversations, ensuring fair opportunities and representation.
Mentorship for IENs
The board also prioritized mentorship as a central strategy. Supporting IENs in their professional journey — from acculturation to leadership development — remains at the heart of SIENNA’s mission. Mentorship will play a key role in guiding nurses through challenges and empowering them to thrive in their careers.
This first meeting set a strong tone for the next two years: one of teamwork, dedication, and shared purpose. With a united board and clear priorities, SIENNA is ready to make meaningful strides for IENs across North America.
