Fellowship Update


On February 28, 2026, Fellows of the Fellowship of the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses (FSIEN) gathered for a productive meeting focused on strengthening the fellowship and planning future initiatives. Discussions highlighted expanding opportunities for internationally educated nurses, enhancing professional collaboration, and advancing the fellowship’s mission of leadership and advocacy.


The meeting reaffirmed the Fellows’ commitment to building a strong global community that supports internationally educated nurses and recognizes their vital contributions to healthcare.

The Highest Distinction for IEN Leaders, Mentors, Experts, Advocates, and Professionals


The Fellowship of the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses (FSIEN)™ is the highest honor from the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses and Nursing Allies (SIENNA). It acknowledges internationally educated nurses and allied professionals for their outstanding contributions to IEN leadership, education, advocacy, DEI, and scholarship globally.

LEADS Competencies


Fellows demonstrate excellence in five key areas - the LEADS Competencies - that advance the recognition and integration of IENs: Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI), and Scholarship.


Pathway to Fellowship


Applicants may apply through the Professional Recognition Pathway, which includes submitting a statement of intent, CV, and an FSIEN dossier aligned with LEADS competencies, supported by a professional reference and a Viva Voce review before the Fellowship Panel.
