FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Austin, TX – February 1, 2026 - SIENNA today announced that it has officially rebranded as the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses and Nursing Allies, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s evolution and global growth. The rebrand was formally approved by the SIENNA Board of Directors and reflects the organization’s expanding international reach and network of ambassadors.
A Name That Reflects a Global Community
Formerly known as the Society of Internationally Educated Nurses of North America, SIENNA’s new name more accurately represents the global scope of its membership, partnerships, and advocacy efforts. Over time, the organization has expanded its engagement with internationally educated nurses (IENs) and nursing allies across multiple regions, healthcare systems, and cultural contexts.
The updated name recognizes both the international presence of IENs worldwide and the essential role of nursing allies who support inclusive leadership, ethical workforce practices, and equitable health systems.
Strategic Organizational Alignment
As part of this transition, SIENNA has also registered the organization in the state of Texas to enhance operational efficiency, governance, and long-term sustainability. This strategic step strengthens the organization’s infrastructure while supporting continued global growth and responsiveness.
Together, the rebrand and registration align with SIENNA’s strategic priority to become the premiere organization representing internationally educated nurses in global discussions, including workforce mobility, ethical recruitment, leadership development, and health equity.
Leadership Perspective
“This rebrand represents both our growth and our responsibility,” said Dr. Paul Biluan, President of SIENNA. “Internationally educated nurses are central to healthcare systems around the world, yet their voices are often underrepresented in global dialogue. By evolving our name and strengthening our foundation, SIENNA is affirming its commitment to elevate those voices and to lead meaningful, inclusive conversations on a global stage.”
